PASTORAL RESPITE CARE
Camp Emmanuel is a gift from God for us to steward and share, so that the gospel can go forth into many lives and communities. Therefore, we believe offering respite to pastors, ministers, missionaries and other vocational ministry employees is an incredibly important act of love and service not only to you and your family but also the community you are serving and the entire Body of Christ.
This above quote is something that one of our pastors and camp visionaries, John Hobbs, used to say often. It is our goal at Camp Emmanuel to provide respite recipients a place to be nourished, cleansed, and re-energized by the presence of the Lord, so that they may return to washing the feet of those they have been called to love and serve.
Our pastoral respite program is offered to pastors, ministers, missionaries and other vocational ministry leaders who are in a season that requires space, rest and refocus. Respite is provided on an as needed and available basis. The length of stay will be determined on a case by case basis, but typically is no more than a week (7 days).
All applicants will pay a standard fee of $500/ week, which can be prorated if your stay is shorter. An application and references are required for all guests.
Our respite facility is what we fondly call the “Cottage”. It is a modern farmhouse themed 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath house nestled in the back of Camp Emmanuel. This quaint space is furnished with a queen and twin bunk bed to sleep 4, but can accommodate more with use of air mattresses/ pack n' plays. It also has a fully equipped kitchen so you can have the comfort and conveniences of home.
There is no internet or TV available as we truly believe in the importance of "unplugging" at Camp Emmanuel.
The camp property is a short 2.5 mile car ride to Ocean and Public Beach access and centrally located to most Outer Banks attractions. Food, entertainment and transportation are not furnished with your reservation.
